When you use Outrnr, you trust us with your personal data. We're committed to keeping that trust. That starts with helping you understand our privacy practices.
This notice describes the personal data ("data") we collect, how it's used and shared, and your choices regarding this data. We recommend that you read this along with our privacy overview, which highlights key points about our privacy practices.
II. Overview
A. Scope
This notice applies to users of Outrnr's services globally. This notice specifically applies to:
- Guests: those who request or receive short-term lodging and related services via their Outrnr account.
- Hosts: those who provide short-term lodging to Guests via their Outrnr account.
- Visitors: those who visit properties listed on Outrnr without booking.
This notice also governs Outrnr's other collections of data in connection with its services. For example, we may collect contact information of property owners or managers on the Outrnr platform, or data of those who start but do not complete applications to be hosts.
All those subject to this notice are referred to as "users" in this notice.
Our privacy practices are subject to applicable laws in the places in which we operate. This means that we engage in the practices described in this notice in a particular country or region only if permitted under the laws of those places.
III. Data Collections and Uses
A. The data we collect
Outrnr collects data:
- provided by users to Outrnr
- created during use of our services
- from other sources
Outrnr collects the following data:
- Data provided by users. This includes:
- User profile: We collect data when users create or update their Outrnr accounts. This may include name, email, phone number, login name and password, address, profile picture, payment or banking information (including related payment verification information), government identification documents, birthdate, and profile photos.
- Background check information (Hosts): This may include information such as criminal record (where permitted by law), and right to host.
- Demographic data: We may collect demographic data including age and gender.
- User content: We collect the content of messages you send to us, such as feedback and product reviews you write, or questions and information you provide to customer support.
- Address book contacts: If you permit us to access the address book on your device, we may collect names and contact information from your address book to facilitate social interactions through our services and for other purposes described in this notice.
- Data created during use of our services. This includes:
- Location data: We collect precise or approximate location data from hosts' devices if they enable us to do so.
- Usage data: We collect data about how users interact with our services. This includes access dates and times, app features or pages viewed, app crashes and other system activity, and type of browser.
- Device data: We may collect data about devices used to access our services, including the hardware models, device IP address, operating systems and versions, software, preferred languages, unique device identifiers, advertising identifiers, serial numbers, device motion data, and mobile network data.
- Communications data: We enable users to communicate with each other and Outrnr through Outrnr's mobile applications and websites. We collect information about these communications, including the participants, date and time, and content of the communications.
- Data from other sources. These include:
- Users participating in our referral programs.
- Outrnr account owners who request services for or on behalf of other users.
- Users or others providing information in connection with claims or disputes.
- Outrnr business partners through which users create or access their Outrnr account, such as payment providers, social media services, or apps or websites that use Outrnr's APIs or whose APIs Outrnr uses.
- Publicly available sources.
- Marketing service providers.
B. How we use data
Outrnr uses data to enable reliable and convenient short-term lodging services. We also use data:
- To enhance the safety and security of our users and services
- For customer support
- For research and development
- To enable communications between users
- For marketing
- In connection with legal proceedings
Outrnr does not sell user personal data to third parties. We use the data we collect:
- To provide our services. This includes using data to:
- Create and update user accounts.
- Verify identity and eligibility to provide lodging services.
- Enable transportation, short-term lodging, and other features of our services.
- Process payments.
- Track and share the progress of bookings.
- Facilitate insurance, tax, and other solutions.
- Safety and security. We use personal data to help maintain the safety, security, and integrity of our services and users. This includes:
- Screening hosts through background checks.
- Using data to prevent, detect, and combat fraud.
- Sharing data across Outrnr platforms and datasets to enhance safety and prevent abuse.

Enabling communications between users. We use personal data to enable communications between users. For example, a host may message a guest to provide check-in instructions.

Marketing. We may use personal data to market our services and those of our partners. This includes sending users communications about Outrnr services, features, promotions, sweepstakes, studies, surveys, news, updates, and events.
We may also use personal data to personalize and provide content, experiences, communications, and advertising to promote and grow our services.

Non-marketing communications. Outrnr may use personal data to generate and provide users with receipts; inform them of changes to our terms, services, or policies; or send other communications that aren't for the purpose of marketing Outrnr's services.

Legal proceedings and requirements. We may use personal data to investigate or address claims or disputes relating to use of Outrnr's services, to satisfy requirements under applicable laws, regulations, or to comply with legal process or government requests.
C. Cookies and third-party technologies
Outrnr and its partners use cookies and other identification technologies on our apps, websites, emails, and online ads for purposes described in this notice.
Cookies are small text files that are stored on browsers or devices by websites, apps, online media, and advertisements. We use cookies and similar technologies for purposes such as:
- Authenticating users
- Remembering user preferences and settings
- Determining the popularity of content
- Delivering and measuring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns
- Analyzing site traffic and trends, and generally understanding the online behaviors and interests of people who interact with our services
IV. Data Sharing and Disclosure
Outrnr may share the personal data we collect:

- Guests' names, profile photos, and booking details with Hosts.
- Hosts' names, profile photos, property details, and listing information with Guests.

V. Data Retention and Deletion
Outrnr retains user profile, transaction, and other personal data for as long as a user maintains their Outrnr account.
Outrnr may retain certain user data after receiving an account deletion request if necessary for legitimate business interests, such as to comply with legal, tax, or accounting requirements.
Users may request deletion of their accounts at any time. Following such requests, Outrnr deletes the data that it is not required to retain for purposes of regulatory, tax, insurance, litigation, or other legal requirements. For example, Outrnr retains location, device, and usage data for these purposes for a minimum of 7 years; while it retains such data, it may also use it for purposes of safety, security, fraud prevention and detection, and research and development. In certain circumstances, Outrnr may be unable to delete a user's account, such as if there's an outstanding credit on the account or an unresolved claim or dispute. Upon resolution of the issue preventing deletion, Outrnr will delete the account as described above.
VI. Choice and Transparency
Outrnr provides ways for users to see and control the data that Outrnr collects, including through:
- in-app privacy settings
- device permissions
- in-app ratings pages
- marketing opt-outs
1. Privacy settings
The Privacy Settings menu in the Outrnr app allows users to set or update their preferences regarding location data collection, notifications, and other features.
2. Device permissions
Most mobile platforms (iOS, Android, etc.) have defined certain types of device data that apps cannot access without the device owner's permission, and these platforms have different methods for how that permission can be obtained. Please check your mobile device's settings to manage these permissions.
3. In-app ratings pages
After every stay, guests and hosts are able to rate each other on a scale from 1 to 5 stars. This two-way system holds everyone accountable for their behavior. Accountability helps create a respectful, safe environment for hosts and guests.
4. Marketing choices
Users may opt out of receiving promotional emails from Outrnr here. Users may also opt out of receiving emails and other messages from Outrnr by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages. We may still send users who have opted out non-promotional communications, such as receipts for bookings or information about their account.
VII. Updates to This Notice
We may occasionally update this notice. If we make significant changes, we will notify users in advance of the changes through the Outrnr apps or through other means, such as email. We encourage users to periodically review this notice for the latest information on our privacy practices. After such notice, use of our services by users will be understood as consent to the updates to the extent permitted by law.
